Year 10 Independent Research Project
The Student Independent Research Project (SIRP) is a mandatory component of the Stage 5 Science Syllabus for the School Certificate. It allows you to work through the Scientific Method and put into practice many of the skills that you have learnt over your Science course:
- Planning and carrying out investigations to test ideas in a scientific manner.
- Researching ideas.
- Communicating your ideas and findings in a report.
- Evaluation of your findings.
Your teacher may suggest project ideas, however you are free to choose an investigation related to a topic you have studied or to any area in which you are interested.
Some class time will be made available for you to work through and discuss your plans for your Research Project with your teacher. During this time your teacher may suggest modifications or improvements to assist you. The majority of the work will be completed at home.
