Attendance Policy
The law in NSW states that all children between the ages of 6 and 15 years of age are required to attend school regularly. (Education Reform Act 1990) It is the responsibility of parents or caregivers to make sure that their children attend school every day, unless there is sickness or injury, a special religious ceremony or serious family situation. Parents should always try to make children’s appointments with people like dentists or doctors before or after school. Parents and caregivers are encouraged to contact the Year Adviser, Head Teacher, Teaching and Learning, or Deputy Principal (Administration) if they have any concerns about their children’s attendance. Appointments can be made by contacting the school office on 4952 3355. The Home School Liaison Officer, based at Newcastle District Office, is available to support students who experience difficulties attending school.
Regular attendance and punctuality are valued at Hunter School of the Performing Arts as they are in all other areas of the community.
The school's policy aims to assist all students attend school on a regular basis and arrive on time each day.
