The School Rules

All students of Hunter School of the Performing Arts are expected to:

  • Comply with the requirements of the school Attendance Policy.
  • Be in class on time and prepared to learn.
  • Stay out of any areas designated at any time as out of bounds. This includes areas of the playground, buildings or classrooms where restricted access is in place because of supervision, safety or security reasons.
  • Maintain a neat and acceptable appearance at all times and comply with the school Uniform Policy.
  • Behave safely, considerately and responsibly at all times.
  • Show respect at all times for teachers, other school staff, volunteers or visitors and all students in the school and refrain from using language which may be considered offensive or inappropriate in a school context.
  • Follow all class rules and cooperate with the teachers instructions. This includes adhering to the school acceptable usage policy in relation to Information and computer technologies and mobile phones.
  • Engage in all learning experiences in a positive manner and which does not interfere with or disrupt the learning of others
  • Show respect and tolerance for each person’s individual differences beliefs and values.
  • Show care and respect the property belonging to the school, themselves and others.
  • Refrain from any behaviour that is considered antisocial or infringes on the safety of others, such as harassment, bullying, intimidation or physical violence. This includes the use of electronic media.
  • Keep the school free of any illegal drugs, tobacco or alcohol. Students found in the possession of or using illegal drugs will be dealt with in accordance with the NSW DET Policy on Suspension and Expulsion.
  • Not bring to school any firearm, replica firearm, knife or weapon as defined by the Weapons Prohibition Act.

These school rules apply at school, on school endorsed activities, excursions, when travelling to and from school and/or when there is a clear and close link with the school.
