Careers
The career education program at our school has been developed from the Australian Blueprint for Career Development. The blueprint outlines eleven competencies to help our students effectively negotiate and manage their careers in the dynamic environment of the 21st century.
The Blueprint has guided the design of the career development program in our school but it is useful also for parents to have an idea about what these competencies are, and to know that there are practical ways that will help provide an environment for children to learn and practice these skills from a very young age. Sometimes random and unexpected events can alter our life and career plans. The career education program aims to facilitate student understanding and development of the attitudes and skills that are needed to survive and flourish in times of change. It is important for students to develop an understanding of their career as more than just a job. There are a broad range of influences such as family, society, school, social policy and the labour market that impact on career development.
